Israeli drone crashes inside UN base in Lebanon

The UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon says an Israeli surveillance drone crashed inside its headquarters in the southern part of the country, but no one was injured and the device was neutralized.

"The drone was not armed, but it was equipped with a camera," said UNIFIL spokeswoman Kandice Ardiel, adding that the Israeli military later confirmed that the drone belonged to the army.

She said that peacekeepers are capable of defending themselves, but the drone fell on its own.

"Like all Israeli military drones and other flights over southern Lebanon, this is a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanese sovereignty," Ardiel said./ CNA, translated by Aljazeera
