Latin American drug cartels/ Trump: Be careful, we will wipe you out of existence

US President Donald Trump, during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, spoke about drug cartels in Latin America.

"We have recently begun using the supreme power of the United States military to destroy Venezuelan terrorists and human trafficking networks led by Nicholas Maduro," Trump said, referring to the Venezuelan president.

The US military has deployed more than 4,000 sailors and marines to waters around Latin America and the Caribbean as part of a stepped-up effort to combat drug cartels.

Trump offered a warning to what he described as "any terrorist thugs smuggling poisonous drugs into the United States of America."

"Please be careful or we will wipe you out of existence," the president said.

Earlier this month, a US military strike killed 11 people in the Caribbean suspected of ties to the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang. Last Friday, Trump announced another deadly military strike on a suspected drug-trafficking ship in international waters, which he said was linked to a designated terrorist organization./ CNA
