The spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, has confirmed that the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, has received a letter from several European and American MPs.

It is learned that in the letter Brussels and Washington are requested to change their approach in relation to Kosovo and Serbia.

"As a general rule, we do not comment on correspondence that the High Representative (Borrell) receives from various interlocutors. If the relevant actors write to him, he responds through the relevant channels. We do not correspond through the media," Stano stated in a statement to the media

56 MPs from Europe and the USA have asked for balance and proportionality in the interaction with Kosovo and Serbia.

However, Stano recalls that the foreign policy is directed unanimously by the EU member states.

He emphasized that the European Union has close cooperation with the United States.

Confirming the neutrality in the dialogue process for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, Stano emphasizes that the institutions of Brussels evaluate the engagement of the parties in the dialogue "on the basis of their individual merits and reports to the member states".

"The EU has sent requests to both sides to resolve the current tensions and enable the continuation of the normalization process. The European Union is carefully monitoring whether Serbia fulfills its requirements and is ready to take measures in case of non-compliance with these requirements", said the EU spokesperson.

In June, Brussels imposed measures against the Government of Kosovo due to non-fulfillment of international requirements related to the de-escalation of the situation in the north of the country.

A month later, Kosovo agreed to take some steps towards expansion, which Brussels evaluated as a "step in the right direction"./ Klan Kosova
