In his first official meeting as Director General of Albanian Customs, Besmir Beja, hosted the Director of Kosovo Customs, Agron Llugaliu, confirming the efficient partnership between the two customs.

The Director General of Albanian Customs emphasized that the establishment of Kosovo Customs Offices near Albanian Customs in the Port of Durrës and Porto Romano has increased trade volumes from Albanian ports to Kosovo by 25%.

The presence of Kosovo Customs at the Port of Durres was assessed by both parties as a strategic added value, which has directly contributed to facilitating customs procedures, increasing operational efficiency and creating more favorable conditions for businesses and economic operators on both sides of the border.

In exports, the volume of goods exported to Kosovo during 2025 increased by 6%, reaching over 1 million and 21 thousand tons and accounted for a specific weight of 26.345% of the total weight of our exports to all countries. Mainly exported to Kosovo during 2025 were cement, glass putty, transplant putty, resin cement, putty compounds and other mastics; fillers used in paintings; non-refractory surface preparations for facades, interior walls, floors, interior ceilings or similar, etc.

In his speech, Mr. Beja emphasized that the processes of digitalization of customs services remain a strategic priority for the Albanian Customs Administration, as they contribute to increasing transparency, simplifying procedures and improving the quality of service to businesses. He underlined that the electronic exchange of data and the development of common digital systems will continue to be in focus, in order to accelerate processes, strengthen control and fight against illegality.

The Director of Kosovo Customs assessed that the opening of the Kosovo Customs Office at the Port of Durres constitutes an extraordinary achievement for the Kosovo economy, as it enables faster processing of goods, saves time and significantly reduces costs for businesses, increasing their competitiveness and creating concrete facilities for Kosovo economic operators.

In this context, it was emphasized that the accelerated procedures and the operation of the unique “One Stop Shop” point in Morinë have significantly influenced the increase in trade volume between Albania and Kosovo, as well as the increase in passenger flow, directly reflecting in the facilitation of the movement of goods and people. The procedural conveniences and cost reductions have been concretely felt by businesses and traders, which has led to a reduction in waiting times, a decrease in financial costs and an increase in trade exchanges between the two countries./ Monitor Magazine
