Delina Ibrahimaj is surprised by the statement: 55% of Albanians cannot finish

For the Minister of Economy, Delina Ibrahimaj, the statement that 55% of Albanians cannot make ends meet is surprising.

According to the minister, these are statements from an imaginary statistical department of the opposition that works with feelings and not with actions like the majority department.

Brahimaj tells us that wages have increased, inflation is low, but prices have increased, but he says that wages have increased faster than prices.

Here is the statement of the Minister of Economy Delina Ibrahimaj

I was surprised to read the statement that 55% of Albanians cannot finish the month.

It would be good to know from which source this figure comes because neither INSTAT, nor the Bank of Albania, nor the World Bank have published any such data.

Perhaps it's about some imaginary statistical department of the opposition, working on feelings.

When we talk about the cost of living, the facts are clear: Wages have increased like never before.

The minimum wage has doubled in less than five years. Consumption and savings are increasing.

Yes, prices have increased, but wages have increased at a faster pace than that. Even according to the Bank of Albania, our country has had the lowest inflation in the region over the last two years.

Meanwhile, public education is free, books for the basic cycle are subsidized by the state, electricity for families has not increased but rather decreased, and public transportation has remained almost unchanged.

As for the “new taxes” and “wrong policies,” the facts speak for themselves: Small businesses have zero taxes. Only 27% of businesses are subject to VAT while 90% benefit from the profit tax exemption, a policy that represents 17 billion lek per year, kept in the pockets of small entrepreneurs.

Even individuals with incomes of up to 50 thousand lek per month are not taxed at all.

These are policies that bring real help, not words.

We know that life is not easy for everyone, so we will continue to increase the minimum and average wage by following our fair principle: those who earn less pay less. We do not claim that everything is perfect, but we have the will, commitment and responsibility to make it better step by step.
