The Mayor of Vlora, Ermal Dredha, reacted to the videos distributed on the network about empty beaches.

Dredha said that these videos are tendentious and dangerous, while claiming that it is wrong to make a counter-advertisement for tourism.

"In fact, it is a finding that is then translated into concern, we have seen that there is an increased attention, rather it is a wrong message that is conveyed not only by social networks. I don't know where they got the source, but it's definitely not a good thing.

You can never advertise against what we are actually proud of, which is tourism, not only in Vlora, but in the entire map of Albania. So we have to be very careful. Albania is developing, it is turning into a very important symbol of tourism in relation to what surrounds us, our region and beyond.

We are doing a very good job in terms of this, the promotion is doing its job and there is no question that the attention will be increased. But that there are voices against or tend to destroy the whole process in fact, because we feel proud that it is being created. It seems tendentious, it seems dangerous and there is no benefit, even more so when different sites or pages in social networks that are within the country are joined, it seems a bit absurd to me", he said.

The mayor of Vlora declared that this anti-advertisement has a very clear purpose, it is an economic "war".

"Honest competition is always more than welcome, inside or outside our country, but when things become tendentious then they make us understand that this 'war' is with a very clear purpose. It is economic 'war' in short. Everyone wants to emphasize income or even tourism where it is offered, why and outside our borders, and it is normal that the trend may be somewhere else.

I cannot say this because it is something that must be looked at very carefully by all those institutions and instances that actually deal with cyber war, which is something that must be taken very seriously. I have the impression that if it is proven, this whole thing will come to the surface. But we have to be careful, we are here to promote Albania, to support Albania in any kind of thing that is done and in any kind of investment that is made", emphasized Dredha./ CNA
