The appeal of GJKKO is decided/ The judicial review for the Fieri incinerator

The appeal of GJKKO has accepted the request of the special prosecutor, Dritan Prençi, regarding the Fier incinerator affair.

The Special Appeal has decided to repeat the judicial review of this affair.

It is learned that 8 witnesses will be called for questioning, including Arjola Kodra, the administrator of the incinerator in Tirana, who was declared innocent by the GJKKO.

On September 25, 2023, the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime sentenced 8 of the 15 people accused of the Fier incinerator affair to a total of 48 years in prison. ( Read here )

Fire incinerator

GJKKO acquitted Arben Dervishajn, Supervisor of incinerator works, Juri Imerajn, administrator of JPY company and Arjola Kodra, Administrator of Tirana Incinerator. 

The former Minister of the Environment, Lefter Koka, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by GJKKO for the Fier incinerator affair, but with a shortened trial the sentence was reduced to 6.8 years in prison.

The former MP of the SP, Alqi Blako, was sentenced to 4 years in prison, but with a shortened trial, the sentence was reduced to 2.8 years in prison.

Klodian Zoto was sentenced to 11 years in prison, but with a shortened trial the sentence was reduced to 8 years in prison.

Erjon Murataj, a member of the concession granting commission, was sentenced to 3 years in prison, the sentence was reduced to 2 years in prison.

Azem Shatëri, a member of the concession granting commission, was sentenced to 3 years in prison, with a shortened trial the sentence was reduced to 2 years in prison.

Loran Dusha, administrator of the Fier Incinerator, was sentenced to 7 years in prison, the sentence was reduced to 4 years and 8 months in prison by the summary trial.

Arbër Denizi, administrator of PIVOT-04, was sentenced to 7 years in prison, with a shortened trial he was sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in prison. 

Florian Muçaj, member of the concession granting commission was sentenced to 3 years in prison, with a shortened trial the sentence was reduced to 2 years in prison! He was released after serving his sentence.

The sentence was commuted to probation for Regan Merdani, Administrator of 'Froggy"sh.pk, Gentian Zifla, Administrator of 'Itneg"sh.pk, Sabina Cenameri, member of the concession granting commission and Pëllumb Abesh, former official of the Ministry of environment

Merdani, Zifla and Cenameri were each sentenced to 3 years in prison, while Abeshi to 2 years and 4 months./ CNA
