Weather situation/ Ministry of Defense: Shkodër region most affected,

The Ministry of Defense has shared an update regarding the situation in the country following heavy rainfall in several areas.

According to the announcement, civil protection structures in cooperation with local government and responsible institutions are on the ground and are closely monitoring the situation throughout the country as a result of the rainfall over the last 24 hours.

The Shkodra region is most affected by high-intensity rainfall.

The ministry reports that since this morning, the water level has decreased significantly and in some homes it has completely receded. In areas where homes were at risk from the stream's flow, excavators are being used to divert the flow and erect a protective embankment.

Work is also underway in the municipality of Fushë Arrëz and in the administrative unit of Gur i Zi to clean up inert materials on the axes where there have been rockfalls, to guarantee normal traffic.

According to the Ministry, no problems with infrastructure or housing as a result of weather conditions have been reported from other regions of the country./CNA
