The recent rainfall has caused the Glina stream in Vau Dejës to overflow its banks, blocking the Vau Dejës city ring road and flooding 100 homes and businesses.

The mayor of Vau i Dejës, Kristjan Shkreli, has stated that the situation is difficult and that funding has been requested several times for the rehabilitation of the stream as the municipality's funds are insufficient. Local government structures are on the ground.

"Work has started in all administrative units. Vau i Dejës is more problematic after the Glina stream overflowed its bed. The damage is great to homes, bees, birds, but we hope that there will be no damage to people. The municipality staff is on the ground and supporting the people, we hope that we will not need to evacuate. The main problem is the Glina stream. We have been applying for rehabilitation for 5 years but have not won. The municipality's funds are insufficient for its full rehabilitation.

There was also flooding of land and homes in the villages of Gur i Zi and Bërdicë.

"Once the flood starts here, it never ends. No one thinks about us. It's been there all day today and it's been damaging us because the water has reached our homes," one of the residents declared.

"The situation in the area is bad. The water has flooded the land and houses. I had 30 bees and it has damaged all of them."

In other municipalities of the Shkodra region, there are problems on secondary roads due to falling rocks and inert materials in the municipalities of Malësi e Madhe, in the Guri i Zi area, and in the municipalities of Pukë and Fushë Arrëz./ CNA
