The Transmission System Operator has procured a contract worth approximately 1.5 million euros to provide electrical equipment to power the network.

In the argumentation made for the procurement procedure, the OSSH, and specifically the High Voltage Directorate, underlines that in some areas the substations and the network are old, while the increase in production capacities makes it difficult to cope.

"This supply aims to purchase electrical equipment for N. High and medium voltage distribution substations for outdoor environments, which are important for N. Electrical substations in cases of defects, damage to equipment or TL/TM electrical lines, due to the difficult conditions in which they operate as a result of long years of operation 50-60 to even 70 years of use, but also from loads due to the production of electricity above the permitted technical parameters, both from private HPPs and solar panels," the document states.

According to OSSH, the construction of many local HPPs and their connection to the Distribution System Operator's network is a phenomenon that started early, but has had a rapid development in recent years, due to the production of clean energy, and at the same time it is predicted that in the coming years this sector will have almost the same growing development, considering the importance of clean energy as a criterion by the European Community.

"The problems encountered with technical parameters outside the standards, the security of electricity supply, the safety of operators at work during maneuvers are displayed by electricity producers from local HPPs in various areas of the TL and N distribution network. The distribution power stations in the areas are as follows:

· Suç – Bulqizë – Shupenza – Vojnik – Peshkopi.

· Cerrik – Radio Station – Doctors – Bath – Cerrujë – Gramsh.

· Gjanç – Rehovo.

· Lozhan – Maliq – Korça.

· Kukes.

· Vukpalaj, Malësi e Madhe.

· Smokthinë – Kuç etc.

Also, the production of electricity from photovoltaic plants, with many projects and licenses for producers with power over 2MVA and new ones 20/25MVA, etc., which seek to be connected to the 35kV network of the OSSH, especially in the coastal area of ??Karavasta - Hoxharë - Mifol, but also in other areas of the country, etc., require the necessity of having backup equipment at all times in case of damage to the existing ones, both at the 110kV and 35kV voltage levels, but also increased security for the protection of electrical equipment in N.
