The leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, spoke this evening regarding Electoral Reform.

Invited to the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin", Mediu said that it is important for the opposition to reach an agreement on which is the best and most representative electoral system.

He added that the closed list system should not exist because the majority of MPs are appointed and not elected by citizens.

"What is important is that we in the opposition reach an agreement on which is the best and most representative system. So that there is fair representation and that the vote is equal throughout the territory. It is important to return constitutionality to the Assembly."

When you have a closed list system, it means that most of the deputies are appointed. Therefore, an open system is needed so that citizens know who to choose. The current system is distorted. The game within the districts puts criminal groups into operation and deputies emerge who do not come from the vote but from manipulation.
