Why doesn't Veliaj face the charges in court?

Today, the court hearings against the former mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who is in Durrës prison, have been postponed for the umpteenth time at the GJKKO.

The latter faces 13 serious criminal charges which were brought to court on September 10.

Meanwhile, in the media, those paid by the incinerators and on the Veliaj family portal run by Mero Baze, it is stated that Erion is being held in prison without charge.

They say he was arrested unjustly, they talk about proportionality, they talk about SPAK getting revenge.

In fact, Erion was arrested in February after several months of investigations, all procedural actions and the collection of evidence and other facts that were actually being destroyed by Erion Veliaj and his people were closed within a 6-month period, and the file was taken to court.

The charges are in court, but Erion Veliaj is not going. For several months now, Erion Veliaj has not been going to court to face the charges. There are a thousand and one technicalities. Once for the disaster and crime, the murder of a judge, the lawyers declared a boycott, but not according to the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice, they postponed it for two days, including the date of Veliaj's trial, once for the arrest of a lawyer in Elbasan, they imposed a 5-day boycott and that included the date of Veliaj's trial, once they change one lawyer, once they change another lawyer, technicalities, procedural issues that concern the defense.

But in the public discussion, in the stance taken, where is the confrontation? It has been demanded that he face the charges in court. Not to be held in prison without charges.

Erion Veliaj has the charges in court. Why doesn't he go to face them? Why doesn't he go to fight his battle with justice? But he keeps whining, "why don't I have a computer", "why doesn't Ulsiu give me a computer?"

Because that's the decision of the Council of Ministers, they should ask Edi Rama, ask the government, not SPAK.

"Why don't they print it for me?" "Why don't they bring me the verdict?" "The charges?" "The documents?". I know what the hell they want!

But in the end, what Erion Veliaj fights for the most, his dignity and public image. Where are you, Erion? Why don't you go to court to face the accusations of SPAK prosecutors?

Why are you making a fuss? Why don't you go and show the opposite of those facts and evidence that the prosecutors have found? Why don't you go and refute them? To confront, to fight justice?

Why does Erion Veliaj avoid facing prosecutors in court with technicalities?

The answer is simple: These are serious accusations, facts and evidence obtained legally. All levels of courts have left Erion Veliaj in prison. And the term he used abusively, "I was unjustly held in prison without charge," has now fallen.

Just as the successive lies that there was no court decision to arrest Erion Veliaj fell, when in fact the security measure "prison arrest" had been issued several times up to the highest level in the Supreme Court.

Another lie that fell by the wayside was that one of the prosecutors in the case, Olsi Dado, had requested a permit extension, but never issued the signed document for the permit extension, nor the refusal with his signature.

And now another one of those public lies has been told, that he is being held in prison without charges, while the charges have been brought to court by prosecutors for several months and Erion Veliaj is not going to face the charges. These are the truths.

And it's understandable why he doesn't go. He's afraid to face the truth. He's afraid to face justice. Otherwise he would have gone. He would have had the courage to face it and fight his legal battle. Which he's actually doing "pull it and don't break it", simply and only to gain from the time he's in detention.
