The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a press statement strongly condemned the detention of officials from the Vlen coalition of North Macedonia.

Berisha accused Prime Minister Edi Rama and Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari of detaining him as if he were terrorists and enemies of the Albanian nation.

"In an unprecedented anti-Albanian act since the dictatorship of Enver Hoxha, and in a very serious diplomatic and political scandal, yesterday, on the orders of Edi Rama, three MPs from the coalition of Albanian parties in North Macedonia, VALENT, were not allowed to enter the territory of Albania, in flagrant violation and violation of interstate agreements with North Macedonia and international conventions.

Thus, yesterday, on July 8, the coordinator of the parliamentary group of the VLEN coalition, MP Bekim Çoku, and MPs Adnan Hazizi and Hasim Myrtezani, deputy secretary general in the government of North Macedonia, were blocked by Albanian drug police at the Qafë Thana border crossing.

All three with diplomatic passports.

They were treated and detained as if they were terrorists, enemies of the Albanian nation, and not honorable deputies, representatives of Albanians in North Macedonia, the neighboring country.

Apologizing on behalf of the Albanians, all Albanians of North Macedonia and the citizens of this country, the VELEN coalition and all its MPs, the DP condemns with the greatest force this ugly act of Edi Rama and his anti-Albanian puppet Minister of the Interior.

This act proves a serious blow to good neighborliness with the neighboring country and constitutes a vulgar attempt to blame neighbors and others for the most powerful civic youth protest the country has known in the last 35 years.

With this act, the narco-dictator of Tirana is behaving in the region in an identical manner to Lukashenko of Belarus and the former dictator of Venezuela, now in handcuffs, Maduro.

I guarantee Edi Rama that his punishment is without salvation, without return.
