"The resolution of the Joint Committee with the EP is not approved"/

The Albania-European Union Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee has failed to adopt a joint resolution on Albania's integration process.

According to the Democratic Party, the reason was the rejection by the majority representatives of more than 30 amendments submitted by the Democratic Party.

The DP announces that the majority voted against proposals aimed at intensifying the fight against corruption, waiving the political protection offered to officials accused of corruption, implementing court decisions, in particular the Constitutional Court, and strengthening control, transparency and accountability mechanisms.

They also announced that their amendments received the support of MEPs in the Parliamentary Committee for Stabilization and Association Albania-European Union.

The Democratic Party representatives in the Committee reiterated their stance to do everything in the interest of Albania's European integration process, while stating that integration cannot be built on propaganda or political statements, but only on real and tangible reforms for Albanian citizens.   /CNA
