Today, the Polytechnic University of Tirana and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy have signed an agreement to support and prepare students through paid internships, with the aim of their professional training, as well as close on-the-ground familiarization with all infrastructure development processes.
The Rector of the Polytechnic University Akli Fundo said that cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure is for important aspects of joint activities in the fields of engineering and construction.
The Rector underlined that the purpose of this memorandum is to define the scope of cooperation between the MEI for the implementation of a 6-month paid internship program for students in their final year of studies or graduates in fields related to transportation and construction.
This memorandum comes at the right time for the Polytechnic University when the development of curricula and teaching programs in the framework of internationalization through joint and double European degrees makes it urgent and important to organize the internship and work practice component in full compliance with the European standards dictated by these European degrees.
"I am very honored and it is a pleasure to be together in an environment among the collaborators of the Polytechnic University of Tirana to sign a new memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education and Culture within the framework of the cooperation on the pact with the University and taking into account the commitment to promoting gender equality, to promoting the participation of girls and women in traditionally male-dominated sectors such as construction and transport.
This initiative is supported by the Building Sustainable Bridges program with the component of addressing the gender employment gap related to road construction.
I am very pleased to highlight the cooperation between MIE and the Polytechnic University in important aspects of our joint activity in the fields of engineering and construction.

"For its part, the University is committed to meeting the standards required by European diplomas, despite legal difficulties," said Rector Akli Fundo.
Further, Rector Akli Fundo emphasized that he would assess whether there would be support regarding the completion of the legal framework, the implementation of internships and 6-month paid work practices in accordance with the standards of European schools.
"This is why I support the MEI initiative and would appreciate if we could have support regarding the completion of the legal framework, the implementation of internships and 6-month paid work practices in accordance with the standards of European schools," said Rector Akli Fundo./ CNA
