Journalist Klodian Tomorri commented today regarding international investigations into organized crime and cases where there has been involvement by Albanian officials.
Invited to the show 'A Show', Tomorri mentioned the investigations being carried out in the Belgian and Italian states.
Tomori added that stories of government representatives' 'involvement' with crime are closer than one might think, without going as far as Aruba.
"Investigations in Belgium speak of representatives of the Albanian government, investigations in Italy speak of the same thing.
Of course, this is a scandal in itself, despite all the others, that we don't have the name and now the naming has begun, was it this one or was it that one.
We are in the conditions, because history has seen international mafia meetings, since the one in New York, the famous meeting in Palermo where all the leaders of Cosa Nostra went. But they were mafia meetings, there was no government that sent its representatives to a mafia meeting. This is the part that needs to be investigated further.
Here we are like in the State Department case or the 'Tigers' issue, where we cannot prove where the money went, but we have other facts that we can prove.
The fact is that the businessmen or those who are called drug traffickers who were part of that meeting, their properties are being developed in Albania and they own most of the coast. Luxury resorts are being built on their properties with the permission of the Albanian government.
"So we don't need to go all the way to Aruba to prove the government's involvement in this story. We just need to look at the government's decisions and what the government does," Tomorri said. /CNA
