Overflowing bins, the dirty image of Tirana in front of tourists

The non-existent incinerator of Tirana has caused the capital city, in 2024 and especially in the scorching summer temperatures, to stink from overflowing and uncleaned bins for days on end, at a time when the mayor Erion Veliaj has promoted Tirana as the European Capital of Youth and European City of Sport, while in 2025 it is declared the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue.

All these titles for the country's first city, but the mayor forgot the main thing: To make the city clean and livable for citizens who every day encounter smog and pollution in every corner of Tirana.

The tourists who decided to visit Tirana this year, in addition to the high temperatures, also encountered piles of garbage that were everywhere, an inappropriate image for Tirana with many "names" of Mayor Veliaj.
