Removing the fence/ Society reacts Rivera Kakome: Beach use has always been free

The Riviera Kakome Ltd. company has reacted after the removal of the fence surrounding Kakome beach yesterday.

Through an official response, the company states that this is a private plot of land sold by the state and provided with a building permit from the KKT.

Regarding yesterday's action, the Riviera Kakome society describes it as destructive violence and states that they have organized evidence for the criminal prosecution of those responsible.

The company states that access and use of the beach has always been free.

Riviera Kakome society reaction

Yesterday, Sunday, June 21, several dozen people equipped with sledgehammers and other destructive tools flooded into Kakomë's private property, destroying everything they could.

Although the gate was open, they destroyed it, continued with the siege, the guardhouse, and everything they found in front of them.

The Riviera Kakome shpk company denounces this destructive violence against a private plot of land sold by the state and a property fence made with a building permit issued by the KKT. We have organized the evidence for the criminal prosecution of the responsible persons. We believe that the law enforcement agencies will do their duty by punishing the perpetrators so that such acts are not repeated.

JUSTIFICATION OF VIOLENCE

It is unfortunate that someone justifies violence with the fact that people have been denied the right to go to the beach. It is a false, fabricated reason. People have never been denied the right to go to the beach. After granting a building permit and fencing off private land, they have been denied entry to private property.

While going to the beach has always been possible on the road along the fence, which has existed for a long time. Access and use of the beach has always been free. We also consider it serious that some media justify violence with expressions such as "residents of Nivica, landowners in Kakome, have demolished the fence." We consider such an expression irresponsible, since it is the duty of anyone who publishes something to first analyze the truth.

We have explained it before, but it seems appropriate to repeat the “Truth about Kakome”. There are no residents of Nivicë who own land in Kakome. We are letting you know again what happened. The dispute of the self-proclaimed group Nivicë Village Community for the recognition of some properties, considered “former pastures” located 10-15 km from the village, unjustly and without any reason, blocked the resort project in Kakome.

First of all, it should be known that their claim was rejected as unfounded at all levels of the judicial system. But more interesting is another fact. In the request for recognition of the properties, the former pastures, by the residents of Nivica, the boundaries of the claimed properties were clearly written and specifically: "The western border of the pastures was the Kakom Monastery" (according to them, based on an agreement with the Turkish state in the pre-independence period).

Meanwhile, it is enough to look at the map to easily determine that the Kakomë land begins a few hundred meters west of the Monastery.

In conclusion: The residents of Kakomë have never been the owners of the Kakomë land, nor have they claimed ownership. Unfortunately, it seems that the residents of the village of Nivicë do not want to know the truth, since they like to grab private lands that others have purchased. What about the role of the state? We emphasize that such incidents of violence against private property, private guards, and buildings built with a building permit seriously violate the law and increase uncertainty for investments in the country.

The uncertainty of investments, their lack of protection from violators, severely harms the development of tourism and of these regions of the country themselves. Moreover, social conflicts are generated, which the state has a duty to avoid. For these reasons, we ask the state institutions to do their duty, by first punishing the perpetrators of these violations of property, law and order.
