Frrok Çupi nuk e meriton këtë që po i ndodh...

In his best days, at the dawn of democracy, his name was synonymous with the hero of the day. Along with Sali Berisha, Gramoz Pashko, Azem Hajdari and others, Frroku was among the few people from whom Albania “expected a lot.” At that time, his writings were devoured by readers eager for the killing of fear, the irony of the oppressed, for a newspaper different from the wooden stereotypes of a dark time.
Frroku was the first advocate of free speech. He was surrounded by the most famous names of Albanian writing and art of the time such as Kujtim Çashku, Teodor Keko, Preç Zogaj, Petraq Kolevica, Natasha Lako, Ilirjan Zhupa, Mitro Çela, etc. etc. Being the Editor-in-Chief of a newspaper that had an editorial board of this level was a luxury that comes once in a lifetime...
Those were the most glorious days of Frroku's life. Frroku felt the glory of those times so much that, in an interview many years later, he makes a modest comparison between himself and the hero Sali Nivica:
“There was another case, sometime before the communist dictatorship, around 1920, when a great patriot and journalist, Sali Nivica, published the newspaper Populli, also a free newspaper for the time. Sali Nivica was declared an honor of the Nation and Teacher of the People. It was a turbulent time, when freedom had no institution or law. After the third issue of the newspaper, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, Sali Nivica, was killed. Even then, it was January, date 10, 1920. It was a coincidence: I lived on the street named “Sali Nivica”. “White Overcoats, interview with Frrok Çupi”.
With such sparks of thought, Frroku lived those days. Let him die for his homeland as an anti-communist, as a martyr of free speech, as the first Renaissance man of the second era! It was not in vain that fate had led him to the "Sali Nivica" street!
If we need to look for the roots of the Frockian destruction, we need to go right there, 30 years ago...
However, Frrok did not disgrace himself even in the difficult days (for him) of Berisha's absolute power. He chose the path of confrontation and was one of the prominent pens of the most famous anti-Berisha newspaper, the daily "Koha Jonë". For reasons of principle or personal resentment, Frrok Çupi was among the most meritorious of the press that led to the fall of Berisha's power.
If I did not write these paragraphs I would not be honest with myself and the truths that I experienced at that time.
With the civil war of '97, the glory days of Frrok Çupi also ended.
***********
This is where Frrok's real drama, inattention, the loss of the algorithm, apparently began. Like those women who have passed away from age, whose graces once made a name for themselves, Frrok also found this life without glory difficult. The new rulers had other troubles. In the new hierarchy, Çupi ended up as Director of the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, meaning he made those wooden news stories without juice that no one reads or refers to. Especially in the golden times of the media boom of those years. Imagine, during the time of the Democratic Party, this position was held by a former fish warehouseman.
I am able today to understand the state of Frrok at that time. From the dreamed glory as the "Sali Nivicë of modern times" to the place of the former fish warehouseman who listed official news that no one read. During that time, hatred for everyone, left and right, was forged in Frrok's subconscious, accumulating a bitterness and bitterness that would last him until the end of his life.
The first abuse belongs to Berisha. I do not know the circumstances of how the second Berisha (2005-2013) met with Çupi, but I am sure that the motives of that meeting were not noble. Among modern rulers, the times of punishment with prison, unemployment or old forms of punishment are gone. Now they punish you with humiliation, forcing you to lick what you spat on them.
Frroku had to vent the anger and bitterness that were poisoning his soul somewhere. For this, things were made up so that he could curse Edi Rama on second-rate televisions like NTV, Shijak TV and others like these. In interviews-chats with journalists Bejdo Malo and Artur Nura, he accused Kristaq Rama of being the murderer of the poet Avzi Nela, as the Vice-Chairman of the Deportation and Internee Committee and carried the flag of Berishism like no one else in the media.
I believe this was the moment when Frrok decided to separate himself from his thoughts. His thoughts were badly mixed with what he had to say, and it was not clear where the first ended and the second began. To escape this cacophony of voices, he decided to put his thoughts away and populate his head only with the thoughts he needed. With willpower, he succeeded, just as a drunkard manages to put down his glass, a smoker his cigarette, so Frrok managed to put down his evil thoughts.
He needed this change for the new job he had taken on: "Servil at the disposal of all powers"
This is the Frrok of our times.
Since then, he has been freed every time he comes out to the studio. He does not ask about his previously disgusting, murderous opinion about Kristaq Rama, but writes:
"the poems of a poet from Kukës who was tragically hanged during the communist regime, and which they want to attribute to Kristaqi."
The poet from Kukës was his former hero, whose name he shouted with particular pathos when he was berating the murderous Kristaqin.
Nothing has changed since then. Except for Frroku.
People listen to him and laugh. Not without regret, at least I do. One day he went on television and accused someone of "your sister was a whore", another day he wrote a misogynistic article with masculine epithets about a well-known journalist, one day he insulted an opposition politician by saying "you are a small word"...
The day after Frroku's television appearance, we will have no protest statements from people's associations. Instead of complaining about why the government is mistreating Frroku, they are dealing with the mistreatment that Frroku is inflicting on people.
