The Faculty of Social Sciences in Tirana has launched the proceedings of the international scientific conference on the topic "Aspects of Political Persecution by the Former Albanian State Security 1944–1991". This event will take place on June 29 and 30 and will bring together local and foreign researchers.

The event was opened by the president of AIDSSH, Gentiana Sula, and the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Edvin Lame. During the opening speech, it was emphasized that the study of these documents serves not only memory, but also a way to turn the archive into genuine knowledge through scientific research and academic debate.

According to the official program, the first day of the conference is divided into three main sessions. The first session addresses the historical and institutional perspective of the former State Security. Then, during the second session, researchers will focus on operational aspects and working methods, deeply analyzing the structure, typology and role of collaborators in persecution. The second part of the day closes with the third session, which will shed light on the political, legal and archival aspects of the regime.

Meanwhile, the second day's proceedings focus more on the consequences for people. The fourth session is dedicated to ethical, psychological and social aspects, addressing unhealed trauma and intergenerational transmission. The fifth and final session will address the relationship between society, religion and persecution, bringing concrete case studies of clerics and individuals targeted by the system.

The conference proceedings will close with the issuance of conclusions and a special statement by the chairwoman Gentiana Sula./CNA
