The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime has ordered the return to prison of former Minister of Environment, Lefter Koka, but the court order has not yet been executed by the authorities because it appears that he has left the territory of Albania for several months.

The Appeals Court upheld the sentence imposed by the First Instance Court, which sentenced the former senior official to 2 years in prison for the charge of "abuse of office", a sentence that came after the application of the summary trial. However, the essential change in the new decision is related to the security measure, the Appeals Court has overturned the previous point that provided for the abolition of the "prison arrest" measure, immediately reinstating it.

According to calculations made on the time he spent in detention, the former Minister of Environment still has about 6 months left to serve in prison, a sentence related to the Tirana incinerator investigation file.
