Ilir Meta, the president with connections to drug traffickers

President Ilir Meta is one of the political actors in Albania, accused of a thousand and one scandals, deeds and misfortunes. We recall here the accusations for the disappearance of gold of the State Treasury, or even the video published by the late Minister Dritan Prifti, where Ilir Meta demanded 7 per cent for doing a favor.

For 30 years in Albanian politics, Ilir Meta has held high positions, from MP, Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament, to President of the Republic, appointed by the Renaissance. But in 30 years in politics, Ilir Meta has been able to secure a dizzying wealth.

Paid for 30 years with a state salary, Ilir Meta today enjoys billions of Lek. Not to mention millions undeclared euros, he has spent on educating children in England. But one of his most famous deed is his links to drug traffickers.

The first is Klement Balili, called the ?Escobar? of the Balkans. Currently, on trial awaiting sentencing decision. Balili is known as a close friend of Ilir Meta. He also became a senior official of LSI, being appointed as the regional director of road transport service in 2016.

The other is Ylli Ndroqi, investigated and arrested in Turkey. Also, investigated in Italy, for which has been issued an arrest warrant. But, although a drug trafficker, Ilir Meta declared a friend Xhemail Pasmaçiu.

While Balili was made director, he decorated Ndroqi and appointed him as an advisor to his ministers. So, in addition to scandals and political accusations, our president should also be investigated for his strong connections with drug traffickers, to whom he has also given public support. But, can Albania keep as president as friend of drug traffickers, which is a gift from the Renaissance and Edi Rama?!/CNA.al
