There's no stopping Elon Musk/ He founds an artificial intelligence company

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has founded a new artificial intelligence (AI) company called xAI.

Musk aims to challenge the big US tech firms by building an alternative to ChatGPT, and he has assembled a team of engineers from these companies to lead the project.

As CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and owner of Twitter, Musk has repeatedly expressed concerns about the potential dangers of AI and the need for regulation in the sector.

Musk described his plan by saying that he aims to create a safer artificial intelligence mechanism.

"Announcing the founding of xAI to understand reality," Musk tweeted Wednesday.

According to him, xAI will focus on developing a highly curious platform that seeks to understand the true nature of the universe. Musk believes this approach increases AI safety and provides a pro-human perspective.

Musk co-founded OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, in 2015, but stepped down from the company's board in 2018.

Microsoft is an investor in OpenAI.

The team at xAI includes Igor Babuschkin, a former engineer at Google's DeepMind; Tony Wu, who worked at Google; Christian Szegedy, who was also a research scientist at Google; and Greg Yang, who was previously at Microsoft.

Musk in March registered a company called X.AI Corp. The firm lists Musk as sole director and Jared Birchall, the managing director of Musk's family office, as secretary.

Musk had said in April that he would launch TruthGPT, or an AI that seeks the maximum truth to rival Google's Bard and Microsoft's Bing AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe.

Dan Hendrycks, who will advise the xAI team, is currently the director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Security and his work revolves around the risks of AI.

Although Musk registered a company called X.AI Corp in March, separated from X Corp, it will work closely with Twitter, Tesla and other companies, according to the xAI website./ REL
