OFFICIAL/ Coach fired, Chelsea starts the year with drastic decision

The year 2026 has found Chelsea without a coach, after the London club has made official the separation of cooperation with Enzo Maresca.

The decision was made after unsatisfactory results in recent weeks and tense relations between the Italian coach and the club's management.

In the official announcement, Chelsea emphasizes that the change comes in order to achieve the season's objectives, including qualifying for the Champions League.

According to Italian media, the termination of the contract was also postponed by Maresca himself after a tense meeting with the management, which followed the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. The 45-year-old coach remained in charge of Chelsea for 18 months.

During this period, he won the Conference League and the Club World Cup. The club has immediately begun work on finding a successor.

The list of candidates for the Chelsea bench includes Liam Rosenior and Francesco Farioli, the latter with a release clause of 20 million euros.
