Miura continues playing football, new team at the age of 59

Kazuyoshi Miura has confirmed that he has no intention of stopping his football career, despite turning 59 next February.

The Japanese player has announced that he will continue playing, moving on loan to Fukushima United, a Japanese club that plays in the third division of domestic football.

Miura, known in Japan by the nickname "Re Kazu", stressed that his motivation and passion for football remain unchanged, despite his age. Last season he was part of Atletico Suzuka, a club in the fourth division of Japan, with whom he played seven games. At the end of the season, the team was relegated to the regional championship, but this did not affect the player's decision to continue his activity.

In 2024, Miura returned to Japan after a spell in Portugal, where he played for second division side Oliveirense. There, too, he was loaned out by Yokohama, the club that holds his card rights.

Miura's career began in 1986 with Brazilian club Santos. He has since played in several leagues and countries, including Japan, Italy, Croatia and Australia, becoming one of the Japanese footballers with the most international experience.

At international level, Miura debuted with the Japanese national team in 1990. He has 89 appearances and 55 goals, being one of the most important names in Japanese football of the 1990s.
