They cheated about nationality, FIFA suspends 7 players. The Federation also suffers

FIFA has suspended seven Malaysian national team players for one year for forging documents.

The decision was made by the Disciplinary Committee, which also fined the Football Association of Malaysia. The players punished are Gabriel Palmero, Facundo Garces, Rodrigo Olgado, Imanol Machuca, Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irastabala and Hector Hevel.

They hail from Argentina, Spain, Brazil and the Netherlands, while Garces plays in La Liga with Alaves. FIFA alleges that the Malaysian Football Federation submitted forged documents to get them to play against Vietnam in June.

The federation was fined 350,000 Swiss francs, while each player was fined 2,000 francs. The 12-month suspension prohibits the players from participating in any football activity.
