The Italian coach leaves, the heavy defeat "filled the cup"

Marseille has announced the end of its collaboration with coach Roberto De Zerbi, by mutual agreement between the parties.

The decision comes after a period of negative results for the French team. The 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last weekend proved decisive for the future of the Italian coach.

The team was eliminated from the Champions League group stage and lost the Coupe de la Ligue final on penalties. In the league, Marseille are fourth, 12 points behind leaders PSG.

The club explained that the decision was made after discussions between the management and the coach, assessing that a change was necessary at this stage of the season.

De Zerbi took over the team in the summer of 2024 and last season led Marseille to second place in Ligue 1.
