First Category, how the ranking changes

Skënderbeu and Besa closed the year 2025 with victories in the First Category. In the matches of the 17th week, the contenders did not disappoint.

Korçars barely triumphed in a delicate transfer like the one against Kukës. Although the northeasterners are ranked last, they showed on the field that they are a strong team.

The first half was quiet and with few scoring chances, and ended goalless. In the second half, Skënderbeu tried harder in attack.

In the 89th minute, Renato Gjini was the hero. The striker came off the bench and scored a superb goal at the entrance to the area, giving the Red and Whites the advantage.

Skënderbeu maintained this advantage until the end, to take three important points in the race to climb to the Superiore.

Thanks to this victory, the team from Korçë holds first place with 40 points, a full seven points more than second-place Laçi.

Kukësi, on the other hand, holds last place with only 9 points accumulated and risks relegation to the Second Category.

In the next match, Besa triumphed 3-1 at home against Iliria, in a hard-fought match. Çinedu opened the scoring in the 16th minute, while Lika equalized for the visitors in the 30th minute.

However, the Cavaliers took the lead at half-time, after a goal scored by Kordeiro Melo in the 44th minute.

The second half was characterized by strong duels in the midfield, but without clear scoring chances. Treni sealed Besa's victory in the 88th minute, scoring the third goal.

At the end, there was also tension, with Staffa and Adolf Selman at Iliria, who were punished with red cards.

This is the third consecutive victory for coach Gugash Magani on the Besa bench, making a perfect start to this new adventure.

With this success, Besa has climbed to fifth place with 23 points, while Iliria drops to seventh place with 22 points.
