Out for 26 months, Pogba gets ready for debut

Paul Pogba is close to returning to action after more than 26 months out. The French midfielder has overcome recent ankle problems and is expected to be fit for Monaco's match against Rennes.

Coach Sebastien Pocognoli confirms that Pogba has returned to training with the group, but emphasizes that no predictions will be given for the exact date of his return.

Monaco consider the contribution he can bring to the team very important, especially for his experience and motivational role. Pogba has had a difficult two years between injuries, family problems and a doping suspension.

The French team expects him to be part of the squad on a permanent basis once he is fully fit.

His return coincides with the possibility of a Champions League clash with Juventus at the end of January. Pogba has yet to make his Monaco debut since signing a contract after having his ban reduced from four years to 18 months.
