Historic in Germany, the team advances to the Bundesliga for the first time

Elversberg has secured promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in its history, after a 3-0 victory over Preussen Munster in the final week of the Bundesliga 2 season.

The team led by Vincent Wagner ended the championship in second place, behind Schalke, securing direct promotion to the German football elite.

Elversberg achieved this goal thanks to a better goal difference than Paderborn, although both teams ended the season on equal points. Paderborn will play in the play-offs against Wolfsburg for a place in the Bundesliga.

Hannover's 3-3 draw with Nurnberg also played a decisive role, leaving them outside the direct promotion zone. Meanwhile, Fortuna Dusseldorf was relegated to the third division after a 3-0 defeat at Greuther Furth.

The bottom of the table was decided by the minimum goal difference in a standings with three teams on equal points. Greuther Furth secured a place in the play-offs, where they will face Rot-Weiss Essen.
