Fate saves Serbia against Latvia, Albania drops to third place

Serbia won 1-0 against Latvia on the road, in the match valid for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The only goal of the match was scored by Dusan Vlahovic in the 12th minute, with a shot from distance.

With this success, Serbia climbs to second place in Group K with 7 points, dropping Albania to third place with 5 points. The first half was all about the Serbs, while Latvia reacted in the second half and had a golden opportunity in extra time, with the ball hitting the post.

Serbia escaped a draw in the last minute and secured a very important victory in the qualification race.

For Albania, this means that the upcoming match in Belgrade against Serbia is decisive. Meanwhile, Latvia will face Albania on September 9 at “Air Albania”.
