Albania wins, but fails to convince. Friendly decided by a penalty shootout

The Albanian national team won 1-0 in a friendly against Gibraltar. This was the first historic meeting between the two national teams, who faced each other for the first time.

The only goal of the match was scored by Jasir Asani in the 69th minute, from the penalty spot, after a handball in the area by Cristian Shpendi.

The first half ended goalless, with few chances, with the most dangerous ones coming from Medon Berisha, but without success. In the second half, the Red and Blacks created several more opportunities with Cristian Shpendi and Arber Hoxha.

The team led by Silvinjo maintained control of the game and managed the score until the end. The friendly served as a test for the upcoming official matches.

Albania will play on September 9 in Tirana against Latvia, a match valid for the World Cup qualifiers.
