The world of sheikhs/ Qatar has spent 6 times more than the 7 worlds combined

The cost of the Qatar World Cup is almost six times higher than the total of the last seven World Cups.

From the USA World Cup in 1994, to the Russia World Cup in 2018, the total expenses for the organization of the largest global sports event are about 45 billion dollars.

Meanwhile, the world of sheikhs captures the cost of 220 billion dollars. This amount includes investments for stadiums, hotels and the transport system, including the new metro.

Qatar has built 8 new stadiums, six giant hotels and other areas for fan accommodation. 

The rest of the infrastructure investments are more related to the country's development vision within the 'Qatar 2030' program. 

Experts say that the financial anomaly is deep between the investment figure and the expected income for the host country, which in the best case is estimated at around 2 billion euros.

However, Qatar does not aim for financial gain more than to use the competition as a diplomatic tool in the international arena.
