A concrete plan is being prepared in Shkodra that aims to develop tourism along the entire line of Lake Shkodra, from Malësia e Madhe to the city of Shkodra . This project is being implemented within the framework of the Gateway to the Alps program, financed by the European Investment Bank in cooperation with the Albanian Government and the Albanian Development Fund.

"We are back for a meeting to discuss the project idea of ??the bicycle path. There will be 2 segments with a total length of 83km. 2 segments that will be from Bajza to the entrance of the Shkodra By Pass and from the Bahçalëkut Bridge to Velipojë. Along the way there will also be several attractive points that will be used for tourism", said architect and designer Cosimo Chiffi.

The Deputy Mayor of Shkodra Municipality, Rudin Beka, stated that the expectations are to create the best tourist product in the entire Balkans.

 "I thank the team, which is here today to present one of the best opportunities for the Municipality of Shkodër and Malësia e Madhe, to create a new tourist product for rural tourism. Today we will present the project where the bicycle lane will pass from Malësia e Madhe and will develop to the Buna confluence, and it will be a very interesting development, which will give a boost to nature tourism near the water. There will also be a combination of history, where tourists will have the opportunity to explore in both municipalities", said Beka.

In this preparatory phase, it has been agreed to support the Municipality of Shkodra and the Municipality of Malësi e Madhe in drafting a feasibility study and a project idea for the construction of a bicycle path along Lake Shkodra and the Buna River to the Adriatic Sea.
