"Volleyball is not just a profession"/ Elena Bego's career and

Elena Bego is one of the most prominent volleyball players from Korça, who has followed her passion since childhood. CNA brings a very interesting report about the Korça volleyball player, who has shared details from her life and sports career.

Elena had her first contact with a volleyball as a child, when she played with her peers in the courtyard of the palace where she lived. Although she had other opportunities to follow a different path in her life, she chose the sport because it was where she felt the greatest emotion and passion. For Elena, volleyball is not just a profession, but a way of life that has given her unforgettable experiences.

" Passion, like every child playing in the neighborhood with that ball, then little by little playing with the ages. I invested quite a few years to be honest, even though I had other opportunities to pursue in life, modeling or other professions, I chose and focused on volleyball. That was my greatest desire, the emotion, the passion, what volleyball gives you are the most beautiful thing that an athlete or a volleyball player can experience. Every athlete chooses a certain sport for passion and then for the financial side. The same thing happened to me ," the volleyball player said.

For Elena, the beginnings were not easy, just like for any athlete. When she first joined Skënderbeu, she was among the youngest on the team, facing volleyball players with many years of experience. However, with dedication and support from the team, she managed to prove herself. She was only 12-13 years old when she started playing alongside girls who were at the end of their careers, but this did not stop her from developing and becoming an important player for the team.

" Every beginning is very difficult, not for me but for every athlete. When I joined the first team in Skënderbeu, I had girls who had many years of experience and I was the youngest. I had support, I was given the opportunity to play because this part is also seen in a team and I definitely found all of this in the first year I came to Skënderbeu. I felt very comfortable even though it was very difficult because I was very young. I may have been 12-13 years old while the other girls were 30-32 years old, some of them even at the end of their careers. We played together in the last year in Skënderbeu and it was something very beautiful for me ," said Bego.

 

Një nga sfidat më të mëdha në karrierën e saj ishte largimi nga Skënderbeu për të luajtur me Tiranën. Ishte një vendim i vështirë, por i nevojshëm për të kërkuar suksese më të mëdha dhe për të fituar titullin kampion. Më pas, kur u rikthye te Skënderbeu, investoi shumë që të rikthente ekipin në nivelet më të larta. Së bashku me ekipin, pas 36 vitesh, ajo arriti të fitonte titullin kampion, një arritje që e konsideron ndër më të rëndësishmet e karrierës së saj.

"Shumë sfida! Sfida e parë ishte kur unë u largova nga Skënderbeu për të luajtur në Tiranë. Ishte një dhimbje shumë e madhe për mua ta lija Skënderbeun e të luaja diku tjetër por për të kërkuar tek vetja dhe te ekipi ku shkova, titullin kampion. Të përjetoja ato emocione pasi Skënderbeu nuk ishte në ato nivelet që unë kërkoja për veten time në karrierën time. E vështirë ka qenë prapë kur u ktheva dhe u investuam shumë që të kthenim në Korçë pas 36 vitesh titullin kampion, apo edhe Kupën e Shqipërisë. Të gjitha janë sfida, çdo vit ka sfidat e tij", deklaroi Elena Bego.

 

Medaljet dhe titujt janë një pjesë e rëndësishme e rrugëtimit të saj, të cilat i ruan me krenari. Megjithatë, fitorja që i dha emocionet më të mëdha ishte ajo me Skënderbeun, pasi për të, suksesi më i madh ishte të fitonte me qytetin e saj të lindjes. Një tjetër moment i rëndësishëm ka qenë veshja e fanellës kuqezi, një ndjesi unike për çdo sportist.

"Duhet t’i numëroj. I kam atje të sistemuara në sirtarin tim të gjitha medaljet. Shumë medalje, duhet ti numëroj tani meqë më kujtove. Në Skënderbeu kanë qenë momentet më të bukura në jetën time. Kur dola kampione në Marlin Barleti nuk isha 100% në lumturinë time dhe e arritur si sportiste pasi doja që ta fitoja me qytetin tim të lindjes, atje ku e nisa karrierën si sportiste. Emocionet më të mëdha dhe ku unë jam ndjerë më e plotësuar në karrierë ka qenë titulli kampion në qytetin tim patjetër. Edhe të veshësh fanellën kuq e zi është një emocion shumë i madh dhe unë e kam përjetuar që në mosha deri në ekip të parë", tha volejbollistja.

 

Sot, si kapitenia e Skënderbeut dhe lojtarja më me përvojë e ekipit, Elena përpiqet të ruajë balancën dhe harmoninë brenda skuadrës. Ajo punon fort për të krijuar një mjedis pozitiv, duke ndihmuar të rejat dhe duke motivuar ekipin për të dhënë më të mirën në çdo ndeshje. Beson se marrëdhëniet e mira brenda grupit janë thelbësore për suksesin e një skuadre.

"Since I am the captain and the oldest girl at the moment in the Skënderbeg team, I have definitely tried to always maintain balance, to maintain the harmony of the team and the spirit of competition at all times. The relationships are very good and I hope that we will continue like this until the end. We have built a very good relationship with all the girls, both Albanian and foreign, from the first day, we have made them feel very comfortable, to feel appreciated and respected, this is the primary thing you can do in a team. The spirit of competition and everything else comes gradually", said Elena Bego.

 

An important role in the team's success is also played by coach Orlando Koja, whom Elena appreciates for his professionalism and dedication. According to her, his passion and work have helped the team achieve great results, and she believes that this year they will defend their championship title.

"Very good. This is the third year that we have been collaborating together and I believe that we will manage to defend the championship title this year as well. Professor Orlando Koja is a professional in his field, very dedicated, with great love and raised by a family of athletes. I greatly appreciate the passion and work that he does with the team as a coach," said the Korça volleyball player.

 

In addition to her career as a volleyball player, Elena is also dedicated to raising new generations of athletes. For five years, she has been running a volleyball course at the “Children’s City”, where more and more children express their desire to take up this sport. For her, it is very important for children to move away from technology and invest in sports, as it not only helps physically, but also mentally and socially.

"I have been running the volleyball course at the 'Children's City' for five years and the demands to be part of it from different age groups are very high. I like that children aspire to play a sport. I would always appeal to you. It is time for everyone to disconnect from social networks, from technology and invest in sports because sports are not only for physical well-being, but also for social and mental well-being. It has a positive impact on every aspect of life," said Bego.

 

Passion, dedication and hard work have made Elena an important name in Albanian volleyball. She continues to be an inspiration to the younger generations, showing that with love for the sport and perseverance, any challenge can be overcome and any dream can become a reality./ CNA
