“Cyber ??Hygiene in Schools” is a conference that was held at the “Oso Kuka” high school by three aspiring directors. Aspirants Anila Kola, Arlinda Nikolli and Jonida Prenga presented a practical guide on how students, teachers and parents can protect themselves from cyber attacks, which have now become a major concern in Albania.

"The main goal of this project is for us to create a safe and conscious environment in the use of technology. Especially secondary education students are facing threats on social networks. In the e-book guide, we have addressed all the rules that students should have in cyber hygiene," said Prenga.

"Our project aims to build a safe online culture in schools by equipping teachers, students, and parents with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves in the digital world," said Kola.

"Considering the not-so-good events that have occurred in Shkodra and other cities in the country regarding teenagers who have fallen prey to cyber attacks and harassment, this topic takes on a very special importance. According to UNICEF, one in 5 children feels harassed online and this is a worrying figure. There is a great need for improvement and this guide is just our first step in raising awareness and we will continue further," said Pranvera Kraja, a teacher and mentor at the school for principals.

According to sources, the national cybersecurity authority has reported 530 cases in a year, while the state children's agency has reported 120 cases. This has led these institutions to increase awareness activities.

"As an authority, we have developed about 50 activities in schools and have received reactions related to bullying and cyber attacks that need to be prevented. As an institution, we have built a platform that is located on our website aksk.gov.al where there is a red button and there anyone can report any case," said AKSK Representative, Megi Sulejmani.

"Every day we receive reports of children feeling endangered on their online platforms. Last year we had 120 reports on ALO 116," said Kristjana Myrtaj from the State Agency for Child Protection.

Cyberattacks and problems that students have from the internet, says the Regional Director of Education for the North Hasan Muça, are a daily refrain that must be prevented.

"It is a concern that has become a daily refrain for us. We do not have a magic wand, but we are actors and the factors we have the ability to prevent, detect and find ways to minimize them," said Muça.

"This topic concerns us all, as a society first and foremost, as a family, as a school, as institutions and beyond. There are many links that need to be put into action so that we do not end up in disaster, as is happening from time to time," said the Director of the "Oso Kuka" school, Teuta Çoku.

In Shkodra, according to local police sources, there are 30 cases per year reported of cyber attacks by school students, but according to experts, this figure is not realistic, because students are reluctant to report every case. In November last year, a 15-year-old girl decided to end her life in Shkodra, due to online blackmail by her peers. /CNA
