Democratic MP, Xhelal Mziu, said today that Albania holds the record for the involvement of local government leaders in corruption.

Invited to 'Syri Tv', Mziu said that this approach of the socialists changed immediately after Edi Rama became prime minister.

According to Mziu, even the political academies organized by the SP have lectures on stealing from citizens.

"Albania has become a Guinness case, in terms of, let's say, the implication of the leaders of local government, of the government, of the parliamentary group. I don't believe that there is any other country in the region or in the world that has this approach in relation to the law. And of course, local government is also implicated to its maximum extent, and this comes first and foremost because of the political approach that the party that is in power today has, because if you look at it, I, being a mayor, but also a colleague, let's say with many socialists, they had a different approach, especially after the arrival of Rama as the political leader of the Socialist Party, but also as prime minister. If you look at them, they give lectures on how you can steal. You have seen them organize political academies, but in fact what politics do they do? These are the main pillars of politics that they do. First, they say how you can get as much money as possible and this money goes, let's say, then in exchange for votes. So what does it mean, if a certain project costs 100 million lek, they say you should do it with 200 or 300 and then use this money by sending it to the party, by sending it to other interest groups, or by sending it to the last citizen, in geographical terms, to buy votes", -said Mziu. /CNA
