"Judges are intoxicated by the taste of independence"/ Rama: They

Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his speech at the parliamentary group meeting, also focused on the judiciary. Rama said that he does not regret the difficult path of justice reform, despite the attacks made.

The leading socialist stated that after more than 100 years, real independence was granted to the judiciary and the separation of the three branches of government was not simply left on paper.

Rama further stated that some judges are "intoxicated" by judicial independence and this could lead to the judiciary crippling the other two branches of government.

" They rushed into the race for the next mandate of SPAK, cutting arrest warrants in bunches. As was the case of Durrës, where only the prosecutor was left without cutting himself an arrest warrant. Or by distributing summonses that resemble theater tickets, to the point of extreme absurdity. As is the case in Tirana where a builder's building was confiscated and is being used for a state institution. And the prosecution has filed criminal charges against the employees.

Now they will probably say that I interfered in the affairs of justice. I will say 1/100 of what I have to say about the interference of the judiciary in the affairs of the executive.

Precisely because we believe that when the Constitution says that there are 3 independent powers and they cannot be on paper, but in reality, this party jumped into the sea with its feet. After 100 or so years of Albanian statehood, we gave real independence to the judiciary. I, who have led the party on the uphill path of judicial independence, never regret it despite the homemade bombs that are lit by all kinds of judges, who are intoxicated by the taste of real independence. It darkens their eyes by making them, at a minimum, violators of rights, because at a maximum, it is much worse. The risk is that the judiciary will cripple not only the independence of the other two but also the ability of the other two to function. This cannot happen in this country, this country does not have the luxury of being restrained and then not being able to recover , "said Rama.
