"Neither locomotive nor wagon"/ Mziu: Albania, the only country in the

MP Xhelal Mziu focused today on the situation of the railway network in the country.

In his speech in the Assembly, Mziu stated that Albania is the only country in the Balkans that does not have functional railways that would serve for the transportation of citizens and tourists.

According to Mziu, the lack of attention in this area is the fault of the socialists, as even receiving a loan for the construction of several lines has not brought any concrete results.

"I felt like I was in another country, when the previous speakers spoke about the extraordinary successes of the railways, but they did not say that there are no railways in Albania. There are neither locomotives nor wagons. We are the first country in the region and the world to close the railways that have been operating for decades in Albania. The loans for the construction of railways on several lines were taken, but none of the segments were functional. We are a country with extreme standards that are turning railways into a thing of the past. And it is absurd in a tourist country like Albania. This majority calls the development of railway transport a luxury. Not only does it not function, but we have about 1 thousand employees in this field, but they have not exercised their function since the Renaissance. This has affected the costs of citizens for their transportation, but also tourists who come from every corner of the world", - said Mziu. /CNA
