Afrim Gashi, appeal to politics: Urgently stop the demographic bloodshed

The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, in his speech at the Diaspora Summit, emphasized that policies must be urgently developed to stop the demographic bloodshed.

"In Kosovo there is a combination of factors but the political factor that begins in the 90s prevails. For the Albanians of the RMV it is a combination of political, economic and institutional factors. Without seeing this diversity why the migration has occurred, the goal of creating the conditions for them to live with dignity in their countries is not achieved and we wait for the day when people will decide to return to their homeland and return the democratic process to where it should be and where we want to see Albanians. We must have a common denominator. In the end, we easily conclude that our goal is the human being.

We must not lose focus on why states exist and the main purpose of policies. Without people, all policies would be in vain.

In recent years, what characterizes migration the most is the departure of young people and the best prepared people. The people who have the best performances are leaving us. This is a great loss, if we want to reconnect with people, we must urgently focus on building policies that stop the demographic bleeding that is happening to us.

The first step should be to create the necessary conditions for people to have all the conditions in their country.

Young people are leaving us because there is a lack of hope. We have forgotten that we are sending a message to our young people that they have no hope, that everything comes from politics.

"If we want to go a step further, let's identify the problems in our society," said Afrim Gashi./ CNA
