A 42-year-old man was detained at the Port of Durres today after attempting to enter Albania using several identities.

During the verifications, it turned out that this citizen had been convicted by the Court of Pordenone and sentenced to 5.9 years in prison for theft with serious consequences.

His arrest was made with the aim of extradition to Italy.

The 42-year-old man was arrested after attempting to enter Albania using several identities in order to avoid identification by the Police, after being sentenced in Italy to over 5 years in prison for theft with serious consequences and illegal immigration.

During detailed checks at the entry/exit of Albania, with the objective of preventing illegalities at the border, as well as the illegal movement of citizens declared wanted, the Border Police services of PKK Port, Durrës, have ascertained that a citizen who intended to enter the Republic of Albania was currently wanted by the Italian authorities.

Following the procedural actions in this case, the Border Police services detained, with the aim of extradition to Italy, the citizen Armando Valchizan alias Armando Dervishi alias Armando Gheorghe alias Altin Dervishi alias Martin Dervishi, 42 years old.

The verifications resulted in the Court of Pordenone sentencing this citizen to 5 years, 9 months and 5 days in prison, for the criminal offense of "Theft", with serious consequences, and for illegal immigration.

Interpol Tirana is cooperating with Interpol Rome to finalize the procedure for the extradition of this citizen to Italy.

The procedural materials were referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further action.
