Helped immigrants cross the border illegally/ Three people arrested in

Two police operations against assisting migrants to cross borders illegally have been finalized in the last 24 hours.

It is reported that during Operation "Return" two people were arrested, while another was arrested as part of Operation "Itinerary".

The police are working to identify and bring to justice other citizens involved in these cases.

Police announcement:

DVKM Korça/2 operations against providing assistance to immigrants to cross borders illegally are finalized in 24 hours.

As a result of operations "Return" and "Itinerary", 3 Sudanese citizens were arrested, who, organized as a group, helped 31 immigrants to illegally cross the green border at the Kapshtica border crossing.

The 2 citizens captured during Operation "Return", along with the 16 emigrants they had helped, were hiding in an abandoned apartment in the village of Qatrom. The apartment was discovered as a result of a several-day pursuit by the Police services.

One of those arrested during this operation had previously been deported from the Republic of Albania after being arrested for committing the same criminal activity.

As a result of investigations and intensive operational work, carried out with the aim of preventing and cracking down on the criminal activity of providing assistance, in exchange for money, to immigrants who intend to illegally travel to EU countries, operations "Return" and "Itinerary" were finalized within 24 hours.

During the "Return" operation, citizens HA, 27 years old, and MH, 20 years old (previously deported from the Republic of Albania, after being detained for the same crime), were arrested because, as a result of a several-day pursuit by the Border Police services of the Korça DVKM, they were caught in an abandoned apartment in the village of Qatrom, where they had been hiding to avoid the Police services, together with 16 immigrants who had helped to illegally cross the green border at the Kapshtica BCP.

During the operation "Itinerary", which was carried out by the Border Police of the Korça DVKM in cooperation with the Korça DVP services, citizen MH, 30 years old, was arrested and put in handcuffs, after he is suspected of having helped 15 immigrants to illegally cross the green border at the Kapshtica BCP. The immigrants were caught in the territory of the village of Drenova.

Work is underway to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens involved in these cases.

The procedural materials were referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further action. / CNA
