'River' of drugs from Albania to Italy/ 7 people in custody,

Italian authorities have issued seven precautionary measures against a criminal group suspected of international cocaine drug trafficking, with its activity centered in Foligno, in the province of Perugia.

Investigations, conducted by the Guardia di Finanza of Perugia since 2024, revealed that the criminal organization had a pyramid structure with a main boss whom the authorities identified as the main coordinator from Albania, who directed the supply and distribution of cocaine on Italian territory.

Investigations have shown that the group used a restaurant in Foligno as a cover and reinvestment of income, while the trafficking activities used cryptophones and sophisticated tools to avoid capture by the authorities, according to Italian media.  

During the investigation period, more than 50 episodes related to drug trafficking were documented, including about 68 kg of cocaine seized in the preliminary discovery that led to the arrest of a local restaurateur.

Three suspects have been sent to prison, one has been placed under house arrest and three others are still being sought by Italian police. /CNA
