The murder of Vanja Gjor?evska is a murder that has shocked public opinion in North Macedonia and beyond. The Minister of the Interior of North Macedonia, Oliver Spasovski, announced that 5 people were involved in this murder and 3 of them were detained.

"Even though Macedonia waited for us to find them alive, we found the two victims dead. On behalf of the entire Ministry of Internal Affairs, I express my condolences to the family and all of Macedonia. Five people are involved in this murder. Three people have been detained, one is on the run and the father of the minor has been detained by the police, as a participant in these events by providing information about the girl's whereabouts. In the case of the minor's murder, it is a matter of conditioning to receive money from the girl's mother, and this was done with the knowledge of a relative. The second event, the murder of the 74-year-old man, is not related to the murder of the minor, but the car of the first victim was used during the kidnapping of the minor Vanja Gjor?evska. We have information that the second person killed, the 74-year-old was killed only because he had a conflict earlier with one of the suspects for the crime committed," said Spasovski.

The minister explained that during the kidnapping of the minor girl, the car of the elderly man killed in Veles was used, while the victims did not know each other. He emphasized that the kidnapping of the girl was done with prior information from her father, since the latter had the goal of extorting money from her mother.

Minister Spasovski said that the motive for the two murders was self-interest, while in one case a person from the victim's closest family was also involved.

"One of the persons, in agreement and with the knowledge, according to the initial findings, of a family member organized the execution of the crime, with the aim of extorting money from the mother of the minor, from which all the persons involved would benefit financially", said Spasovski./ CNA
