Jim O'Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State in an interview for the show "Focus" on CNA TV said that the Western Balkans is an opportunity to reaffirm NATO's commitment.

He stated that this alliance in the north of Kosovo provides critical security support.

"The Western Balkans is an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the Alliance. As you know, NATO provides critical security support in northern Kosovo and support for the EU force in Bosnia. It has long stood as a kind of security backbone that is necessary for the Western Balkan states as they walk their European path. Thus, their ministers will have an opportunity to outline the latest steps for EU enlargement and the growth plan for the region. They will also be able to discuss the role that security plays in creating space for the Western Balkan states to make their own decisions about how quickly they want to move forward," he said./ CNA
