
During the official visit to Tirana, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom James Cleverly visited the Western Balkans University, where he participated in the opening ceremony of the United Kingdom Chamber of Commerce in Tirana.
Secretary Cleverly in his speech asked to invest in the education of young people. According to him, young people are the future that is worth every penny invested.
"Every nation relies on its talented youth. That is why I say to you - business leaders and students - invest in this phenomenal country! Study here! It is wonderful that the first decisions of the Chamber of Commerce of the United Kingdom in Albania have been to offer scholarships to the University of the Western Balkans for students from the northern areas. Thank you for investing in the youth of Albania. They are the future worth every penny invested. Through our Chamber of Commerce, which is now officially registered and operational, I hope that you and others like you will be Business Ambassadors for Britain in Albania and for Albania in Britain. In energy, technology, education and all other areas - you all have something to offer to both our countries," said James Cleverly.
In his speech, the President of the Western Balkans University, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, welcoming the attendees, focused on the cooperation that this university has with some of the best English universities.
"It is a great pleasure to welcome you today at the Western Balkans University, for the launch of the Chamber of Commerce of the United Kingdom in Albania. Through a very close collaboration with the University of Cambridge and several British universities, the Western Balkans University aims to bring the best British practices in higher education and scientific research to Albania and the Western Balkans region." - emphasized the president of WBU.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce of the United Kingdom in Albania, Klodian Allajbeu, underlined that the Chamber of Commerce will play a key role in intensifying trade relations between the two countries and will strongly support projects related to education to give more opportunities to young people. for a better future:
"This chamber will pay special attention to the education sector by offering scholarships for young and talented Albanians to study in Albania and the United Kingdom, because we believe that education is the cornerstone of a modern economy and a sign characteristic of a prosperous society," Allajbeu said.
