Trump's ultimatum/Pakistan's Prime Minister seeks extension of

Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, asked Trump for a two-week extension of Tuesday's deadline.

In a post on X, he said diplomatic efforts are progressing steadily, strongly, and powerfully.

“Diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, vigorously, and with the potential to lead to substantial results in the near future. To allow diplomacy to move forward, I urge President Trump to extend the deadline by two weeks. Pakistan, in all sincerity, calls on our Iranian brothers to open the Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a gesture of goodwill. We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve a final conclusion to the war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region,” writes Shehbaz Sharif.

Pakistan has been the main mediator for joint proposals between Iran and the United States, but there has been no sign of a compromise. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment./ CNA
