Ukraine: Russia is helping Iran with satellite data

A Ukrainian intelligence assessment, seen by Reuters, claims that Russia has provided cover for Iran by supplying it with satellite imagery and assisting it in cyber operations during the current conflict with the United States and Israel.

The report says Russian satellites conducted at least 24 observations in 11 Middle Eastern countries in late March, targeting 46 locations, including US military bases, airports and oil fields.

The document describes a pattern according to which Iranian missile and drone attacks occurred immediately after these observations.

A Western military source and a regional security source told Reuters they had also noticed increased Russian satellite activity and intelligence sharing.

The Ukrainian intelligence assessment claims that Moscow and Tehran maintain "a permanent communication channel" to exchange data, which may include Russian military spies in Tehran.

It also details growing cooperation in the cyber field, with Russian and Iranian hacker groups coordinating attacks on regional infrastructure.

The allegations come amid deepening military ties between Russia and Iran since Moscow launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including cooperation with drones and intelligence-sharing agreements.

Reuters said it could not independently confirm the claims, while a US spokeswoman said no external support had influenced the operational success of Washington, which, together with Israel, launched air strikes on Iran on February 28. Russia and Iran have not yet commented on the claims. /REL
