Trump gives Hamas an ultimatum: You have three to four days to respond to the

President Donald Trump today gave Hamas three or four days to respond to his US-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza, a comprehensive plan welcomed by Israel and world powers.

The 20-point proposal, unveiled Monday at the White House alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages within 72 hours, the complete disarmament of Hamas and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops.

Gaza would then be run by a transitional authority headed by Trump himself, with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair also playing a role and supported by a temporary international stabilization force.

"We're just waiting for Hamas to either do it or not. And if they don't, it's going to be a very sad ending," Trump told reporters.

Asked if there was room for negotiations on the peace plan, Trump said: "Not much."

The president, along with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced details of the plan at the White House on Monday, in a joint press conference, following a meeting between delegations from both administrations and a trilateral phone call that also included the prime minister of Qatar./CNA
