US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with the crew of the Artemis II mission after completing their journey around the Moon, describing the astronauts as "modern-day pioneers."
During the communication, Trump congratulated the four astronauts, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, for their courage and historic achievement.
"Today you made history and made all of America truly proud," he said, adding that the US will continue to lead in space exploration.
The Artemis II mission marked a key moment for NASA's program, as the crew achieved the farthest distance ever recorded from Earth in a human flight.
This success paves the way for future missions, including Artemis III and Artemis IV, which aim to return astronauts to the lunar surface and prepare for future journeys to Mars./ CNA
